This chapter is about food additives. People always said that food additive is not good, it's harmful, and my grandma always tells me "Don't eat too much of chemical food.". Chemical food she referred to is the food that contains food additives. But actually, the food additive is introduced in food is due to the food easily to spoil and by introducing it could help it to preserve.

What I understood for food additives are the substances that are added to a food product in small amounts in order to affect the food's quality. Food additives added into food to do some functions in the food such as improve/ maintain nutritional value, improve/ maintain freshness as well as improve taste, texture and appearance. There are 2 types of additives, which are natural and artificial. The E number, which we always see in the food's ingredient label, is a reference number given to food additives that have passed safety tests and have been approved for use throughout the European Union (EU).

In this chapter, I have learned some soft skill which is lifelong learning skill because I have to study this chapter myself. And also interpersonal skills. I have to find a free time to study this chapter myself which is challenging for me as during these few weeks it's very busy and very hard to find time to study especially when there are a lot of assignments and reports due. How I overcome this matter, is that I take the time during waiting for transport and taking public transport back (because I had to spend at least one hour on the train) so I spend the one hour to read through this chapter.
